As you might already know, here at Mopinion we consider our people the backbone of our business. They are what makes it possible for us to create and deliver an innovative software that guarantees great value for our customers. So what does a Mopinion employee look like and how do they contribute to our company culture? In our Employee Spotlight series, we sit down with colleagues and learn who they really are and what they do – both in and out of the office. Last month we introduced Jose, our Python Developer. This month, however, we’re putting the spotlight on another new employee at Mopinion, Florent Turpin.
Meet Florent. Florent joined the Mopinion family just five months ago, but he already fits right in with the rest of em! Responsible for business development in the French market, Florent is a spirited and driven employee and great addition to the team. When he’s not expanding our presence in the French market, however, he’s off making his own music and dreaming of going to the moon!
Let’s see how Florent likes working at Mopinion so far…
What does your position at Mopinion entail?
“I manage the entire sales cycle for the French market. This means I’m not only generating leads, I’m also the one closing the French deals and maintaining these customer relations.”
Florent is Mopinion’s Business Development Manager for the French-speaking market.
What initially drew you to Mopinion?
“I came to the Netherlands about nine years ago for a student exchange program. Once I finished my studies I started working as a business developer for the French market and have been doing that since. As time went on, I decided I wanted to challenge myself in a more fast growing environment. The B2B SaaS world attracted me a lot and Mopinion gave me this opportunity.”
What does a typical work day look like for you?
“On a daily basis, I am busy identifying business opportunities, developing effective models and strategies to improve business performance, and searching for potential clients.”
What is your favorite part about working at Mopinion?
“I’d say I really enjoy helping French prospects and customers by giving online demos, building strong relationships, and really making sure that they improve their digital customer experience.”
What are the biggest challenges you face in your job?
“Closing deals. Many enterprise companies have several persons involved in the buying process, so it can be tricky to speak to the right person at the right moment. And when it comes to prospects it’s a challenge to show them what Mopinion does since everything is digital.”
So how does Florent deal with these challenges, you ask?
“I’m in the midst of creating a mockup that shows it all in one glance. I also use feedback in my emails, which gives me the opportunity to learn from my contacts. Interestingly enough, I get very positive feedback about my visual way of showing what we do at Mopinion. I send 400-500 emails monthly, but all personalised and this approach turns out to be successful.”
What is your proudest moment at Mopinion?
“Definitely when I closed my first deal! I like to celebrate life and of course, I popped open a bottle of champagne when I closed the deal.”
Congrats, Florent!
And now for some fun questions…
What do you like to do in your free time?
“Composing music in my own music studio at home and gardening with my two young boys. I’m a big fan of Daft Punk and my music sound is called ‘French house’, which is a bit similar to Daft Punk.”
What is your guilty pleasure?
“Listening to 90’s music while working on a proposal.”
Who inspires you?
“Nicolas Hulot, he’s a French journalist and environmental activist. I’ve seen a lot of his documentaries on how we can protect our planet.”
What is one thing you can’t live without?
“My Canal+ app, which is basically my connection with France. I watch French tv, the news and I even get inspired by French commercials.”
What is your favorite quote?
“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
Winston Churchill
What is your biggest fear?
“The reversal of the earth’s magnetic field or to be stuck in an elevator.”
Where do you see yourself in five years?
“If I’m not on a trip to the moon, I guess I still see myself on earth then”, he laughs.
What is something that not many people know about you?
“I was born on a French volcanic island called Réunion Island, located between Mauritius Island and Madagascar. I lived there until I was 18 years old and decided to start studying in Paris.”
Sounds pretty exotic if you ask me…
