Has one of your colleagues ever accidentally modified the settings of how your feedback forms are published, causing them to stop working correctly? It happens, especially when multiple co-workers share access to the same setup. Enter Deployment Versioning – Troubleshooting made painless! This new Mopinion feature allows you to easily track any changes made to how and when a feedback form is displayed (or a deployment, as it’s called in the Mopinion platform) and undo them with a click of a button. You can even test your website feedback forms without publishing them. Let us show you how.
Troubleshooting how feedback forms are displayed on your website or mobile app is no one’s favourite task – which is why it should be as easy as possible. With Deployment Versioning you’ll be able to detect changes and revert to previous versions in no time, making your whole team more efficient. And happier to boot, we’re sure!
In this blog, we will cover:

Stay in charge: Revert, debug and perfect your deployments
Being part of a big team has many benefits, such as efficiency and creativity. But, like everything else, it also has its challenges. Mopinion users often set triggers to determine when and where a feedback form appears – for example, on a specific URL or after a visitor has spent a certain amount of time browsing the website.
When several colleagues, and perhaps even different departments, change how feedback forms are displayed, things are bound to go wrong sometimes. That is unfortunately the nature of human error.
Perhaps a trigger was set for the wrong form, or a condition was incorrectly applied to 90% of your visitors instead of 9%. Naturally, this has unwanted consequences like forms disappearing or not showing as intended. And we’re sure you have better things to do than play detective.
Finding what change was made to your triggers and conditions, who made it and why can be very time-consuming. Especially if you have tens and tens of feedback forms running on your website. It can feel like finding a needle in a haystack.
This is why we are introducing Deployment Versioning!
By giving you the option to revert to an older version of your settings and to see which changes have been made, when and by who, you always stay in charge.
Deployment Versioning allows for:
- Enhanced efficiency: Quickly amend a mistake or revert to a better-performing version of your triggers and conditions settings.
- Quicker debugging: Identify what has changed and why in no time.
- More context for a faster analysis: Is there an uptick or drop in feedback responses? See exactly what has changed in the publishing settings that caused this.
- Finding ownership: Sometimes you might not know if a change was made on purpose or not. Deployment Versioning makes it easy to ask your colleagues about any unclear changes. Or blame them, if you are having one of those days, but we wouldn’t recommend it for team morale… 😉
Test feedback forms before you publish them
To give you even more control, Deployment Versioning also allows you to test your website feedback forms before you publish them.
While you’ve been able to test website forms with the Deployment Assistant for some time, you previously had to publish the changes you had made to do so. We have now removed this extra step, allowing you to test your forms and any changes you’ve made to triggers or conditions before you publish them.
To summarise: Deployment Versioning simplifies, speeds up and makes the deployment of your feedback forms more reliable—giving you the peace of mind that you optimise every version and control every change.
What is Deployment Versioning and how does it work?
As we mentioned, Deployment Versioning simplifies managing feedback forms. It’s unique to Mopinion and available to all our customers without any additional costs.
Before we show you how to get started, let’s explore exactly what it does and how it works.
Deployment Versioning allows you to:
- Review recent changes to your feedback form setup and see who made them.
When someone edits triggers or conditions, or adds a form to be published, the platform logs it. By using Deployment Versioning, you can quickly and easily see what changes have been made and when. As it is sometimes handy to be able to ask why a change was implemented, you can also see who was responsible for it.
- Revert to a previous deployment version.
Deployment Versioning provides an overview of previous versions of your feedback form setup, including the changes in each version. This gives you a quick option to go back to an older version and revert to those settings – all with just a click of a button.
- Test your feedback forms before you publish them.
It is no longer necessary to publish changes you’ve made to your triggers and conditions before testing your website feedback forms. Simply implement the changes you want and use the Deployment Assistant to test how your feedback forms are working. Only hit the ‘Publish’ button when you are sure everything is correct.
Handy, right? This leads us to the last, ultimate question: how do I get started? We’ll tell you! Below you’ll find a step-by-step guide for getting up and running with Deployment Versioning. You can also check out our Knowledge Base article for an even more in-depth description.
Start using Deployment Versioning: A step-by-step guide
When you open the Mopinion platform, go to the sidebar and open ‘Data Collection’, then click ‘Deployments’. Choose the deployment you want to investigate or work with.
When opening the deployment and there is an unpublished draft, you will see a pop-up window asking you if you’d like to go to the draft or the live version of the deployment. Click either ‘View my current deployment’ or ‘Go to draft’ depending on what you prefer.
1. How do I see which changes have been made in the deployment?
When entering the deployment, you will see a button in the top left corner that either says ‘Published’ or ‘Draft’ followed by a date. Click this to view your deployment versions.
Here you can see who published the latest version of the deployment and when they did it. You can also see if new forms have been added or if changes were made to existing ones.
When you change or add a form to the deployment and click ‘Publish’, the platform will ask you to add a description of what you’ve done to make the log even clearer.
2. How do I revert to a previous version of my deployment?
At the bottom of the window, you can see all the previous versions of your deployment, complete with a time stamp and publishing date. If you expand them by clicking on them, you can see who published them as well as what changes were made in each version.
If you want to revert to an older version, simply click it and then choose ‘Select Version’.
When you’ve chosen the version you prefer, simply close the window and click ‘Publish’. Ta-dah! All done.
3. How do I test my feedback forms without publishing them?
It works almost exactly as it did previously. Just add your preferred changes or any new feedback forms. Once done, you simply click ‘Assistant’ and fill in the website you would like to test your feedback forms on.
However, please note that you need an installed deployment code on your website for the Deployment Assistant to work.
To install a deployment code, click on the arrow next to the ‘Publish button’ and select’ Get Deployment code’. Choose the code you need. Do you need more information? Read our step-by-step guides for deploying Mopinion with Google Tag Manager and with a Javascript snippet.
